Rocky Hollow Horse Camp Located on 40 acres of woodlands, these campsites are available year-round. Designed for horseback trail riders, the campground is convenient to horse trails located in the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area and surrounding areas. The camp is not just for horse lovers but is open to all who enjoy the great outdoors, as RV and tent sites are available. They have sites to accommodate everyone, from the primitive tent campers to the largest RV. All RV campsites have full hookups and some sites are pull-through.
They’re open the first Friday in March until the first Monday in December. Developed Campsites Most campsites accommodate six people per site, and larger group camping areas are available, too. All developed campsites have water, picnic tables and grills, and they provide marked paths to bath houses and toilets. Outdoor Activities Most Virginia State Parks offer hiking trails, fishing, playgrounds and picnic facilities. Some have bicycle trails, bridle trails and swimming pools, too.

Beech Fork is located 12 miles south of Huntington and Barboursville and is just a short drive from Charleston, Cincinnati and Lexington. Developed by the U. Army Corps of Engineers in the mid ‘s, Beech Fork Lake has owned up to its popularity for recreation boating, fishing and wildlife watching experiences. The site, deluxe campground features four distinctly different areas. Approximately 80 sites are lake front campsites.
Old Orchard, a site full hookup campground is equipped with water, sewer and , , or amp electric service. It is open year-round. Moxley Branch, Four Coves, and Lakeview camping areas each are equipped with newly upgraded or amp electric service. All campgrounds have full service bathhouses and restroom facilities-complete with coin operated laundry. Each campsite contains a grill and picnic table.
Reservations may be made in sections of Old Orchard and Moxley Branch. There is limited playground equipment in the campgrounds as well as mooring posts along the lake sites. Closing of sites for winter season begins from October and November until there are sites that remain open in the Old Orchard campground by November 15th.

Basic camping sites will include a small patch of land that is numbered and sectioned off. Sites can be on the lake, in the woods or near other campsites, depending on the size of the campground. Tent sites may often have a small electrical hookup, but most of the time, it will be a basic site with a picnic table and firepit.
RV and travel trailer sites can have much more. These sites can have shaded awnings, full electric, water and sewer hookups, cable TV, a fire pit and picnic table. RV parks and resorts, designed solely for RV will be the highest in terms of quality when it comes to camping. These resorts will have cable TV, Internet access, full hook-ups, laundry and nice restroom setups than most campgrounds. State parks, like a national park, will have the most basic amenities, but some may have electric and the occasional water hookup.
Most state parks will offer a simple restroom facility, along with a fresh water station and RV dump station. Another common campground option are state fairgrounds.

Share on Facebook Virginia enjoys an Atlantic Ocean coastline on the mainland and on the peninsula known as the Delmarva because Delaware, Maryland and Virginia share the mile-long spit of land. The state also has a long shoreline on both sides of the Chesapeake Bay, but those coastal areas offer little in the way of waterfront camping. Beachfront campgrounds are concentrated in a handful of locations. Some of the sites accommodate RVs up to 50 feet long, and many have electric and water hookups.
The park, Virginia’s most-visited, offers a sandy beach, hiking and biking trails, and interpretive programs.
• The group camping area is located on the west side of the lake off of Township Road # (this road forks • West Virginia’s Stonewall Jackson State Park has a campground located on the west (30 & 50 amp), 4 full hookup, 15 basic, and 10 tent-only.
