The neighborhood is bordered in the south and west by Chinatown — which extends north to roughly Grand Street, in the west by Nolita and in the north by the East Village. History[ edit ] Prior to Europeans[ edit ] As was all of Manhattan Island, the area now known as the Lower East Side was occupied by members of the Lenape tribe, who were organized in bands which moved from place to place according to the seasons, fishing on the rivers in the summer, and moving inland in the fall and winter to gather crops and hunt for food. Their main trail took approximately the route of Broadway. Around these farms were a number of enclaves of free or “half-free” Africans, which served as a buffer between the Dutch and the Native Americans. One of the largest of these was located along the modern Bowery between Prince Street and Astor Place. On the modern map of Manhattan, the Delancey farm is represented in the grid of streets from Division Street north to Houston Street. A spacious projected Delancey Square—intended to cover the area within today’s Eldridge, Essex, Hester and Broome Streets—was eliminated when the loyalist Delancey family’s property was confiscated after the American Revolution. The city Commissioners of Forfeiture eliminated the aristocratic planned square for a grid, effacing Delancey’s vision of a New York laid out like the West End of London.

N-Z 2-D – by Alex Hawk – A pair of brothers visit the Virgin Islands and find out they like looking at the scenery there less than they like looking at each other. Much more easily than you might think! Check this story for details. Love in the ‘biblical’ sense. A lot of hooliganism is displayed in the name of fun.
With the group severely fractured thanks to Mike and GG’s war of words—and GG subjecting herself to starting businesses, hookups, threeways, trying to hook up when you have someone in your.
Big Paws — February 2, The Pennsylvania Railroad was a great railroad, with a high opinion of itself; nowhere was that more evident than in what was and is perhaps the most distinctive electric locomotive ever — the GG1. To understand the GG1, you have to understand the history of the Pennsylvania PRR, or Pennsy to its admirers — this was no ordinary railroad! By the s, the system reached over 10, miles, with a workforce of , — comparable in size to the British LMS , with greater traffic than even the New York Central, and PRR was the largest publicly traded company in the world.
And it holds the record for continuous dividend payments — over years until things began to go wrong in the early s Electrification came early to the PRR, with systems in New Jersey in , Long Island in and Penn Station in New York in a Beaux Arts masterpiece that was sadly lost in the s. And by , the wires had spread west from Philadelphia to Harrisburg — here we see the first electric trains to reach the state capital. The first mainline express electrics were the P5 class, a 2-C-2 box cab built jointly by Baldwin Locomotive Works and the Westinghouse Electric Corporation.
They were intended to match the performance of the famous K4s Pacifics , but the rising weight of traffic soon made them underpowered. This was a boxcab with two sets of six driven wheels under the centre of the chassis, and two four wheeled leading trucks at the outer ends — in effect, two chassis mated back to back.
Power outputs of the EP3 was around 3, hp, compared to the 2, hp of the P5. Westinghouse offered the R1, which was an enlarged version of the P5 with an additional driving axle, but GE won with their GG1 proposal. The first GG1, completed in August , was no no from late , and looked like this. The engine was based on two chassis, articulated at the centre.
The surprising decision was well received by the others in the group, and Reza even went as far as saying that nobody misses the cast member they just lost anyway. Reza decided that Lilly Ghalichi should not be a part of the show anymore. Instead, he chose Asifa Mirza to replace Lilly in the new season. It appears that the now-ex cast member had no other friends in the show except for Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi, and she also doesn’t want to return to the show at all.
Reza and GG had a talk with OK!
Great write up, Big Paws. Thank you. I’m just starting the book “FDRs Funeral Train” by Robert Klara, and the GG-1s get some mention there, too.
See what happens when you make bad decisions — namely, choosing the Other Guys subpar cable services. When you get bored, you start staring out windows. When you start staring out windows, you see things you shouldn’t see. When you see things you shouldn’t see, you need to vanish. When you need to vanish, you fake your own death. When you fake your own death, you dye your eyebrows.

Is your dad still washing the car? Hopefully he’s still preoccupied so you can sneak out. But it doesn’t hurt to be prepared for an encounter. Luckily, that is exactly what you are. Clouseau, what are you doing in this household? Can I bake you a cake? Please make yourself comfortable while I go about my business not being suspicious. But wait, perhaps that is not so much the distinguished Inspector Clouseau as it is I will set the kettle to boil straightaway. Who would have guessed this home would be so heavily trafficked by famous French detectives at this time of day?
Oh my, the good Poirot appears to be clucking little pleasantries in his adorable French accent through the high pitched voice of an enthusiastic teen girl.

Non-pure abjads such as Hebrew and Arabic script and abugidas use diacritics for denoting vowels. Hebrew and Arabic also indicate consonant doubling and change with diacritics; Hebrew and Devanagari use them for foreign sounds. Devanagari and related abugidas also use a diacritical mark called a virama to mark the absence of a vowel.
Emoticons are commonly created with diacritic symbols, especially Japanese emoticons on popular imageboards.

Tweet The drawback to this wonderful piece of machinery is that it is made of complicated and sensitive parts. Here are some troubleshooting tips if your Keurig gets temperamental. Lift up the water reservoir and drop it back into place. There is a magnet that has to be in the right position and putting the reservoir back into place causes it to go back where it should be. This method has worked for me. To flush out debris, run water through your brewer a few times without a K-Cup. Try turning the power on and off or try unplugging for a long stretch if you can.
When you turn the Keurig back on, be sure to give it plenty of warm-up time.

Posted on July 28, by Mike 18 Jun Following a close vote in Congress, President James Madison declares war on Great Britain 26 Dec The British declare a blockade of the Chesapeake Bay and begin destroying ships entering, departing or sailing upon the bay. Several hundred encounters between the British and merchant vessels during the blockade have been documented. Most vessels were captured or destroyed by the British some after fierce battles but a few outran them and escaped.
They are repulsed by American defenders. They use the island until the end of the war to support operations in the Chesapeake including the attack on Baltimore and to house escaped slaves. In all traces of their fort and graveyard were destroyed by a severe hurricane and that portion of the island was subsequently washed away. The British break off the engagement and return to their ships. Both sides claim victory.
Militia is overwhelmed and retreats. Although the militia attempts to harass, the British are able to remove or destroy property at will. Militia arrives but does not engage. After two days of bombardment, the battery is destroyed and the British fleet sails back to the Chesapeake Bay. They overrun the militia and proceed to Heathsville, plundering, destroying property and burning homes for two days.
